María Pagés has been awarded the 2022 Princess of Asturias Award For The Arts for her talent and commitment to Flamenco, one of the most prestigious awards in Spain. An award well deserved and its timing feels perfectly aligned to her latest show, An Ode to Time, where María takes us on a journey of reflection: searching for meaning in the art of flamenco. Working with her long-time collaborator El Arbi El Harti, María and her company explores flamenco in-depth.
She is one of the oldies but goodies. I have always been fascinated by her powerful and expressive use of arms and hands, which I consider her trademark. An Ode to Time will most certainly showcase the wonderful arm-work of María while also entertain us and make us reflect on life, time and happiness.
